Zamboanga City Targets To Achieve Herd Immunity By January Next Year

The City Health Office is targeting to achieve herd immunity for Zamboanga City by January or February next year.

City health officer, Dr. Dulce Amor D. Miravite, said “Hopefully, we will be able to reach this the soonest possible time by January or February next year we will reach the 70 percent mark already.”

According to Miravite, the city in the last seven days the city is now averaging 10,000 jabs a day.

A total of 565,351 in the city received their Covid-19 vaccine. 346,273 received their first dose while 219,078 received their second dose.

This also includes children 12 to 17 years old with comorbidities and the rest of pediatric population.

Fully vaccinated means that they already got the two doses of vaccines and 14 days after their second dose.

These individuals were vaccinated in the city’s vaccination sites. Vaccines used were Astrazeneca, Sinovac, Jansen, Sputnik V, Moderna, and Pfizer.

The City’s vaccination program will cover 700,000 individuals to achieve herd immunity. At least 70 percent of the population should have Covid-19 vaccinations in order to have herd immunity.

Currently the city has 21,831 Covid cases, 20,083 recovered, 734 active cases, and 1,014 deaths as of November 15, 2021.
