The city government of Zamboanga officially started the Pediatric patients age 5 to 11 year’s old vaccination Monday morning at the Zamboanga Central School SPED Center.
Parents accompanied their children to the vaccination sites converted into a child friendly area and with treats available for children after vaccination.
Reformulated Pfizer vaccine were used for the said age group to protect these children from severe form of Coronavirus Disease 2019.
Parents presented birth certificate of their child or proof of guardianship. Children were also assessed before vaccination and were also observed after vaccination.
Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, City Health Officer, said “now we have the choice to protect our children.”
She is also urging parents of those vaccinated children to also encourage other parents to have their children vaccinated. The city health officer admitted, some parents are still not ready to have their children vaccinated.
Present during the launching were Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, Department of Health (DOH) regional office 9 Regional Director Dr. Joshua Brilliantes, Miravite, and Rosalio Conturno of the Department of Education.
Similar activities are also being conducted at the city’s vaccination site.
DOH 9 regional director Dr. Brilliantes said they are encouraging parents to bring their children for vaccination so kids can be protected and soon start the face to face classes if Department of Education permits.
