NBI TURNED OVER TO CSWD THE 271 ASSORTED SACKS OF RICE CONFISCATED FROM A CHINESE SELLER IN SURIGAO CITY

The NBI led by Regional Director Mario Minor and Surigao Satellite Office Head Peter Larong turned over the 271 assorted sacks of rice confiscated from Zhang Maoying also known as Smith Gamboa Yap or Andy to the City Social Welfare and Development Office led by Gloria Salvador.

The NBI manifested to the Regional Trial Court to dispose the confiscated assorted sacks of rice after the laboratory analysis from National Food Authority that they are not fake and are safe for human consumption.

Zhang Maoying was the owner of Smith Rice Trading Store at Sarvida corner Borromeo streets that was raided by NBI last August 15, 2019 when the owner of Square Line filed a complaint that he was selling it and printed in his sack the Square Line brand and Yap Zi Rice Mill in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur. He was facing cases of violations of RA 8762, PD 1829, RA 8293 as amended by RA 10372 and Commonwealth Act no. 142 as amended by RA 6085. He was able to post bail in the total amount of 144,000 pesos.

CSWD Officer Salvador said the 271 assorted sacks of rice will be distributed to the three facilities like Bahay Pag-asa, Residential Center for Street Children and the Crisis Center. The office will also share bags of rice to the BJMP. (RPN DXKS exclusive report)
