Police officers in Cordillera have destroyed ₱ 11, 100 million worth of marijuana in Benguet and Kalinga.
Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) said that law enforcers uprooted and destroyed 39,000 fully grown marijuana plants and 18,000 marijuana seedlings in nine plantation sites in the two provinces in a three-day operation that started on Friday, December 10.
The two marijuana plantation sites were discovered in Barangay Poblacion, Kibungan with 500 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants.
In Kalinga, operatives found a total of 38,500 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants and 18,000 pieces of marijuana seedlings in five plantation sites in Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, and another 12,000 pieces in two plantation sites in Brgy Butbut Proper, Tinglayan.
All discovered marijuana plants were uprooted and burned on-site by the operatives while investigations are ongoing to identify possible cultivators.
Meanwhile, two suspected drug personalities identified as Warren Dangpa Madanes, 45, and Ryan Taguiba Tictica, 32, were arrested in buy-bust operations conducted in Benguet and Baguio City.
The arrested suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of the respective units in charge of documentation and proper disposition while a case for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filled filed against the two suspects.
