Bacolod: Odette left a wake of destruction in NegOcc

Motorists waited for several hours before the highway from Moises Padilla town proper to Crossing Magallon all the way to La Castellana town proper was cleared of several downed trees due to Typhoon Odette this morning Dec. 17.

Mediamen who stayed overnight in the town also helped clear the major roads on their way back to Bacolod.

  1. Padilla municipal DRRMO rescuers and road clearing teams are also clearing the M. Padilla town proper to Cabacungan, La Castellana highway.*

In other areas in the town, more houses were either destroyed or damaged by Typhoon Odette that started its onslaught last night.

Mayor Ella Garcia-Yulo who stayed overnight at the evacuation center to take care of the evacuees, are now assessing the situation around town, while Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office personnel, with policemen and firemen, are clearing the roads.*

KABANKALAN FLOOD

Jujin Vidal sent to NDB photos of the flood caused by Typhoon Odette at Chicago Street in Barangay 1, Kabankalan City near Gaisano City Mall. The water keeps rising, according to Jujin who lives in the area.*

Many other barangays are still under water in Kabankalan, he added.*

A 4-YEAR-OLD DIED AT THE height of Typhoon Odette last night in Sitio Agogolo, Barangay Macagahay in Moises Padilla town.

Brgy. Captain Francis Necessito, in an initial report to Mayor Ella Garcia-Yulo this morning, said that the minor reportedly jumped from their house which was about to collapse due to the typhoon.

The barangay captain said he is getting more information about the incident.

He also reported that many houses were either destroyed or damaged in the barangay, and that roads are inaccessible due to fallen trees, saying they need assistance.
