This was after Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson approved in principle the increase of flights, following talks with representatives of the airline companies.

It will be included in the executive order to be issued by Gov. Lacson before end of the month, where Negros Occidental will have its new COVID-19 risk classification.

At present, flights between Manila and the Bacolod-Silay Airport are limited at two flights per airline company per day, while flights between Mactan-Cebu and Bacolod-Silay Airport are at one per airline per week.

Starting March 1, Diaz said there will be three flights per day for PAL and Cebu Pacific, while Air Asia wants to retain two flights per day.

There will be an extra cargo flight for Cebu Pacific coming in to the province, he added.

Diaz also announced that Cebu Pacific will have four flights for Cebu-Bacolod-Cebu per week, and three flights for PAL within the same period.

Records of the Provincial Incident Management Team show that COVID-19 active cases further dropped to 574 as of February 23.

Diaz also disclosed that there are only 31 COVID-19 patients being treated at the Cadiz District Hospital.

The Mambukal Mountain Resort in Murcia is being eyed to be reopened by the provincial government of Negros Occidental, either by the middle of March or first week of April, as repairs and upgrading of its facilities are still ongoing as of this time, he added.
