Davao City – The City Government of Davao will file cases against a local bar owner illegally operating without a business permit and for violating COVID-19 protocols, such as the implementation of the minimum public health standards (MPHS) and Safe DQR scanning among its clients inside the establishment.
Davao COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle “Ching” Schlosser, in a Viber interview with the City Information Office (CIO) on Monday, February 21, 2022, said police personnel also issued citation tickets against MPHS violators when they visited Supladoz Ilustre Restobar on Saturday, February 19, 2022.
She said it was found in an initial probe that Supladoz had no business permit to operate and the management also did not comply with the MPHS implementation within its establishment.
“They also did not use the DQR scanning. Wala mi’y record na naa’y nisulod sa ilang establishment. Wala siguro ni sila naga scan in and scan out sa ilahang DQR for their clientele. Upon initial investigation, mao na’ng mga violations na commit nila. Yesterday, I believe our Business Bureau has released a cease and desist order and they have already received it. Nag-stop na ata ang operation as we speak because of the order (We don’t have a record of anyone who entered their establishment. They might not have been scanning the DQR for their clients. She also said that a further investigation is ongoing with the City Legal Office currently on board.
Dr. Schlosser, along with the Business Bureau and the enforcement team, will meet bar owners and establishments in Davao City on Tuesday, February 22.
She added, “We will remind them of the minimum public health standards. I-remind namo sa ilaha nga they will not receive a safety seal without following those needed for them to achieve it. At the same time, daghan na kaayo ta na-deputize dili lang atong mga police personnel, we are also deputizing people from (the) response cluster so that we can all help in making sure na implemented ang pag follow sa MPHS (We will remind them that they won’t be receiving a safety seal without adhering to the standards needed to achieve it. At the same time, we have also deputized a lot not just our police personnel but also the people from the response cluster so that we can all help in making sure that MPHS is being strictly followed).”
The city health official said they are looking into keeping the city’s alert level 2 status or even improving it to alert level 1 but if Dabawenyos continue to commit violations similar to what happened at Supladoz, where almost everyone violated the mandatory wearing of face mask and social distancing, the city might soon become high risk and its alert level may be raised to three again.
“Hopefully, this serves as a reminder nga naa pa ta’y kalaban nga COVID-19 noh. Naa gihapon ang virus therefore we always have to be vigilant. Dapat magpadayon atong pagka-cooperative, pagkadisiplinado by always following the MPHS and by being responsible to protect ourselves through having our vaccine or our booster doses. It’s always a combination (Hopefully, this serves as a reminder that our enemy, COVID-19, is still very much around. We should continue to be cooperative and disciplined by always following the MPHS and by being responsible to protect ourselves through having our vaccine or our booster doses),” Dr. Schlosser said.
