The Philippine Health Insurance (PhilHealth) regional office 9 now has it’s Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Home Isolation Benefit Package (CHIBP) to assist those Covid 19 patients in home isolation.
Dr. Jacobo D.V. Mendoza, Head PhilHealth 9 Benefit Administration Section, said the package can be used if an area is under Covid surge and there must be an accredited facility to offer such package.
The CHIBP can be used by those who tested positive for Covid 19 based from the Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR), asymptomatic or mild Covid 19, no risk factors, and they passed the social criteria. Social criteria means the patients mush have the capacity to isolate which means he or she has a room with toilet and good ventilation, they must have a companion who will care for them, and the patient has communication lines open.
Mild symptoms means patients may have fever, cough, colds, feeling tired, no appetite, body aches, sore throat, headache, diarrhea, vomiting, lost of smell and taste, and no signs of pneumonia.
CHIBP benefit is amounting to ₱ 5,917.00 covering doctor’s consultation, patient monitoring for ten days, home isolation kit which includes: alcohol, thermometer, pulse oximeter, medicine, and face mask, and the facility must be ready to refer the patient in case the situation gets worse.
He said, facilities and hospitals were already informed about said package. However, no facilities are still accredited in region 9 as of press time.
For interested, they need to go to the office to complete the requirements like the letter of intent, performance commitment, service delivery support of their partner in telemedicine, referral facility and plan, authorization for those without e claims, and those community isolation unit, infirmary, hospital and Konsulta providers may offer the package. If their requirements are complete the office will immediately act on it.
