“For more than 14 years, the accused identified as Warren R. Baje, 28 years old, and resident of Sitio Hamburger, Barangay Gata, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur was finally caught by joint elements of San Agustin Municipal Police Station (MPS), 1st Surigao del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company and in coordination with Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial Office,” Regional Director POLICE BRIGEDIER GENERAL ROMEO M CARAMAT JR, PRO13 revealed.

Baje was arrested through warrant of arrest for the crime of rape in relation to R.A. 7610 also known as Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act with Criminal Case No. 13393.

The warrant of arrest was issued at Regional Trial Court, Region 9, Branch 7, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte with no bail bond recommended.

According to the investigation, the suspect mercilessly raped a 2 year-old toddler in the town of Polanco, Zamboanga del Norte in 2006 where he was formerly residing.

After committing his crime, he instantly fled to the province of Surigao where he had relatives.

Baje was apprehended as a result of a carnapping incident last October 19, 2021 in Surigao del Sur committed by his uncle when a confidential informant revealed to the operatives that the carnapping suspect has a nephew who has a standing warrant in Zamboanga del Norte.

The San Agustin MPS confirmed the case and immediately contacted Zamboanga police to coordinate the arrest.

“With our strong commitment, our troops will never stop conducting manhunt operations against those with warrant of arrest. Expect more wanted persons to be hauled in jail as our efforts are gaining headway on the ground,” RD CARAMAT, JR stressed out. (PMaj. Dorothy M. Tumulak)
