Surigao: Promotable Caraga Cop Tested Positive For Drugs

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City – A police officer in Caraga region tested positive for methamphetamine and is undergoing pre-charge evaluation, amidst the region’s effort to clean its ranks from scalawags, Police Regional Office 13 Director Police Brigadier General ROMEO M CARAMAT JR said last Friday (November 5).

Accordingly, out of 136 police officers who underwent the drug test of the Regional Crime Laboratory Office 13 on October 12, 2021 for promotion, Police Chief Master Sergeant Julius U Calderon’s urine specimen yielded positive result for the presence of methamphetamine during screening and confirmatory drug testing.

PCMS Calderon is presently assigned at Butuan City Police Office and an aspirant for the rank of Police Executive Master Sergeant for this year’s regular promotion.

“This is a dire consequence if a policeman will get himself involve in illegal drugs and also a clear warning to our personnel that we will totally cleanse our ranks as we wage the war on drugs. We will never tolerate policemen receiving salaries from the government while engaging in unlawful activities,” RD CARAMAT JR said.

“Our PNP personnel shall serve as role models in the fight against illegal drugs. Delinquent police officers shall face dismissal from the service if they are found to be taking illegal drugs,” he added.

Under the watch of PBGEN CARAMAT JR, PRO13 has already recorded three police officers who will be removed from the service for illegal drug use. (PMaj. Dorothy M. Tumulak)
