This is in connection with the upcoming implementation of Comelec Resolution 10728 which states “No person shall employ, avail him/herself or engage the services of security personnel or bodyguards, whether or not such security personnel or bodyguards are regular members or officers of the PNP, AFP, other law enforcement agencies of the government or from a private security service provider, unless authorized by the Commission.”

PRO 13 currently has 16 police officers detailed as VIP security according to Police Security and Protection Unit (PSPU) 13. PSPU is a unit of PNP tasked to secure and protect elected and appointed national government officials.

PNP Caraga vows to keep the campaign period as peaceful as the filing of Certificate of Candidacy period in consonance with the marching order of the PNP Chief PGEN DIONARDO B. CARLOS.

“As an organization with a vow to serve and protect the people, PNP officers should always be non-partisan and therefore should not take action that could influence or, worst, jeopardize our goal of keeping a violence-free election,” RD CARAMAT JR stated. (PMaj. Dorothy M. Tumulak)
