INCIDENT REPORT: Coast Guard Station Surigao del Norte aboard Patrol Boat 151 has responded to a maritime incident involving five passengers including boat operator of a half-submerged at vicinity waters off Kabo Island, Surigao City at around 02:15 p.m. last Saturday, 04 December 2021.
The distressed motorbanca, MBCA Jimboy departed from Brgy. Buenavista going to Brgy. Balibayon despite the prohibition on travel when it encountered strong winds and big waves that damaged the middle stern portion of motorbanca.
The Coast Guard District North Eastern Mindanao launched a search and rescue (SAR) operation and safely brought the distressed individuals in good physical condition to CGS Surigao del Norte.
