Surigao: 64 Communist Terrorist Group members neutralized during PNP Caraga’s simultaneous operations

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City – A total of 11 wanted Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members were arrested, 49 surrendered to different police units in the region, and another four were apprehended during the separate implementation of Search Warrants for violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act following the successful one-day Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations of Caraga police last Saturday, November 27, this was the report of POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL ROMEO M. Among those who were arrested were Rolando P. Repaso a.k.a. Lando Macay, Dindo T. Durado, Mario A. Himo Sr, Ernesto Balabag a.k.a.Bomba/Toto, Leizel M. Peling a.k.a. Kr/Nari, Marlon O. Talatayod a.k.a. Renren, Noli M. Tahudan a.k.a. Moloy/Rr/Ayon, Joven T. Agustin a.k.a Binsio, and Rowen P. Avila, all with standing Warrants of Arrest issued by local courts in the region.

RD CARAMAT, JR said that Repaso is listed as the number 4 most wanted person of PNP Caraga. He was arrested in Purok 4, Brgy. Budlingin, Alegria, Surigao del Norte based on the strength of Warrant of Arrest issued by RTC, 10th Judicial Region, Branch 30, Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, dated July 3, 2020, for the crime of Multiple Attempted Murder with bail bond recommended amounting to ₱ 120, 000.00.

Repaso was among the CTG members who attempted to kill Mario B. Labao, a tribal chieftain in Barangay Lahi, Gigaquit Surigao del Norte and his family with the use of high-powered firearms around 5:30 AM on December 16, 2018.

Meanwhile, another Warrants of Arrests were served to Gelandre G. Ybañez with aliases Gelan Ybañez, Weng, and Zanjo at the detention facility of Butuan City Police Station 1 and Randy C. Bragas at Delta Company, 48IB, Camp, Camp Jaime Ferrer, Maharlika, Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.

The 49 CTG members who returned to the folds of the law come from the different provinces in the region, of which 10 were in the list of Periodic Status Report. They surrendered 32 small arms, four light weapons, and five explosives.

Surrendered CTG members are now in the custody of local police for custodial debriefing.

Moreover, the region’s top cop identified the arrested CTG members over possession of loose firearms as Benjely V. Lomod a.k.a Daki, Juby A. Maturan, Marnilo L. Lumag, and Valerio D. Maquilang.

During the separate operations, the operating troops confiscated a caliber .45 Colt pistol with magazine loaded with six rounds of ammunition and subversive documents from Lomod; a caliber .38 revolver loaded with 6 ammunition from Maturan; a caliber .45 pistol with magazine loaded with four rounds of ammunition from Lumag and a caliber .45 pistol with magazine loaded with 4 rounds of ammunition from Maquilang.

The four arrested CTG members are in the custody of arresting police units while appropriate charges are being prepared for filing in court.

“These accomplishments will significantly contribute to the inevitable downfall of the Communist Terrorist Group who are now suffering a major setback following the death of George Madlos a.k.a. Ka Oris, the massive surrender, and the series of arrests of their members and supporters. The defeat of the CTG will be a huge victory for the Filipino people especially for all the victims of their more than 50 years of ruthless killing, ambuscades, attacks, and other atrocities,” PBGEN CARAMAT, JR said.
