Baguio: Benguet to launch pediatric vaccination

Benguet Provincial Health Officer 1 Dr. Meliarazon Dulay stated that the province will launch the vaccination for   5 to 11 years old children on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.

Thus Parents and guardians are encouraged to allow their children get protection from COVID-19 to help protect them against the severe effects of virus.

The provincial government of Benguet thru the PHO with the local government of La Trinidad, the Department of Health-Cordillera, the Philippine Pediatric Society, the Benguet General Hospital, Cordillera Hospital of the Divine Grace and other partners will be spearhead the “Resbakuna Kids” at the Benguet State University in La Trinidad.

The province is targeting more than 60,000 children for this campaign.

Dulay said the PHO   has tapped the Philippine Pediatric Society to support the vaccination teams particularly on the assessment and post vaccination monitoring of the children.

She added that they are looking at other possible strategies for this vaccination drive together with    the LGUs, the Department of Education and other stakeholders from others from government and private sector.

Delay said that while there were earlier registration for the children, walk-ins will be accommodated.

Meanwhile, Data analysis from the City Health Services Office and the University of the Philippines Baguio – Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, a total of 1,795 children aged 5 to 11 years old were infected with COVID-19 from March 2020 to February 8, 2022.

Highest cases for the 5 to 11 age group were noted during the Delta surge of COVID-19 in the city on September last year at 498 followed by 318 cases last month with the Omicron wave.
