Bacolod City – The city’s vaccination drive resumed at the different malls and barangays starting yesterday, Dr. Edwin Miraflor, Jr., officer-in-charge of the City Health Office, said.

The schedule ran from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for mall-based inoculation, he said, adding that the SM City drive will begin on Saturday, while vaccination at Ayala Malls Capitol Central will still be ongoing even on a Sunday.

The city’s vax-i buses, or the mobile vaccination clinic, will again hit the road starting next week, Miraflor disclosed.

HITTING RECORD MARKS

In an interview over radio station DYRL yesterday, Miraflor said 105 percent of Bacolod’s target population had received first dose of the COVID vaccine, while 94.5 percent is already fully-vaccinated.

He also disclosed that the city government is reserving its Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for the 12 to 17 pediatric population.

He also clarified that they are still awaiting the official announcement as to when they will start inoculating those in the 5 to 11 age group.

SHORTENED INTERVALS

He also reiterated that the Department of Health had already shortened the vaccination interval schedule for vaccinees who wish to get their second dose and booster shots.

Those who received the single shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine may get their booster after two months.

Dully-vaccinated residents, who had other brands for their first and second doses, may get their booster shots after three months instead of six months.

Those inoculated with AstraZeneca for their first dose may get their second shot four weeks later, instead of waiting for 8 to 12 weeks, Miraflor explained.
