The Apostolic Administrator of Zamboanga, Bishop Moises Cuevas, presides over the Requiem Mass for +Archbishop Romulo Dela Cruz at the Crypt of Saint Michael the Archangel at MCIC (Cathedral) this morning. The Mass is also offered in memory of +Archbishop Carmelo Morelos (d. 2016), who would have turned 91 years old today. Present were several representatives of the diocesan and religious clergy.
“The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.
The Lord has given the Archdiocese of Zamboanga a great gift in the person of Abp. Romulo Dela Cruz, D.D. We have been blessed by his fatherly guidance and love for the past seven years.
The Lord has taken away. Today we announce with great sorrow the passing of Abp. Romulo dela Cruz. He has long suffered from his illness and is now given relief to enjoy eternal peace in heaven.
We still praise the Name of the Lord. We offer our prayers to God for the soul of Abp. Rommy, for his family and we pray for our Archdiocese of Zamboanga.
Eternal rest grant unto Your faithful servant, Abp. Romulo dela Cruz, Oh Lord. And let Your perpetual light shine upon him.
