Turn-Over Ceremony And Signing Of Memorandom Of Understanding For Dominga Association In Calinan District Marked Successful.

Davao City:  The 16th Infantry (Maglilingkod) Battalion under the leadership of LTC JOEL G SALAGUINTO INF (GSC) PA, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region XI headed by Dir. Raymundo G. Agravante, Regional Director, conducted the Turn-Over Ceremony and Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the White Copra and Charcoal Production Project of the Dominga Association.

This was held at Brgy Dominga, Calinan District, Davao City on March 5, 2020. The conduct of Community Support Program (CSP) by this unit in Barangay Dominga yielded the establishment of Dominga Association. Most of its members are Former Rebels and CTG Mass supporters.

With this, marginalized communities will be able to receive programs and projects from the different government agencies to foster the establishment of peaceful and conflict-resilient communities. In recognition to the eagerness of the Dominga Association in attaining peace and development, the unit in collaboration with the DOLE Davao City Field Office headed by Ms. ErlindaG. Mamitag, Chief, DOLE XI-DCFO facilitated this project under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).

One of the highlights of the activity is the ribbon cutting, followed by the handing over of the facilities and equipment to the beneficiaries. These will be managed and operated by the members of Dominga Association.

“We personally thank the 16IB and other stakeholders for the cooperation and efforts in making this endeavor possible. The facilities, training and knowledge that the beneficiaries acquired can be a continuous source of revenue and later on be shared to the whole community.”

“The collaborative effort of all concerned government agencies paved the way for the opening of opportunities to the constituents in conflict affected areas. The government is actively helping our communities to be more productive and be able to aid themselves for the benefit of not only their families, but also to their communities.”, said Col. Nolasco Mempin, Brigade Commander of 1003rd Brigade.

This undertaking is a manifestation that Philippine Army in accordance with Executive Order No. 70 S. of 2018 that mandates Institutionalizing the Whole-of-Nation Approach in Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC), is in full swing in assisting the government in the delivery of much needed programs, projects and services to the people.

These initiatives, in collaboration with key partners and stakeholders, geared towards the establishment of peaceful and conflict-resilient communities.
