PBGen. Escobal Spearheaded The Successful Demilitarization Of Firearms In PRO 11

Davao City- Police Brigadier General Filmore Escobal of Police Regional Office 11 spearheaded the Demilitarization of firearms held at PRO 11 Grandstand.

The activity was graced by Davao Oriental Governor Nelson L Dayanghirang as Keynote Speaker; and was attended/witnessed by DILG-ASEC Alexander L Macario, Davao del Norte Gov. Jayvee Tyrone Uy; Davao First District Councilor Mabel-Sunga-Acosta; Tarragona, Davao Oriental Mayor Nelson L Uy; 10th Infantry Division, PA Commander MGEN REUBEN S BASIAO; 1003rd Infantry Brigade Commander COLONEL NOLASCO MEMPIN; AFP/PNP Press Corp President, Ms. Ruth Dumandan; and friends from media.

The demilitarized firearms includes:

one (1) Garand rifle, two (2) M14, five (5) M16, 1 shotgun, one (1) AK47, one (1) Basic Assault Rifle, three (3) cal. 45 and two (2) cal.38. Demilitarization is a process by which firearms, explosive and ammunition turned-in by former NPA members are destroyed through the following procedures: cutting of individual steel pieces using circular saw or blow torch into sections, bending and deforming each piece, deforming the hammer and trigger using blowtorch, cutting or chopping the wooden parts and stamping the aluminum parts.

It is undertaken by PRO11 Firearms, Explosives and Ammunition Disposal Committee (FEADC). The strict documentation of the process is employed to prevent cannibalization and pilferage of turned- in firearms.

The activity is in line with PRESIDENT RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE campaign to end local communist armed conflict through Executive order no. 70 which seeks to institute a whole government approach in Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC).
