One suspect was arrested for violation of gun ban enforced by Commission on Election on January 22, 2022 during the conduct of checkpoint along National Highway at Brgy. Luna, Surigao City.
Provincial Director, Police Colonel Renato C Mercado identified the suspect as Reuven Tiu Consigna, 48 years old, and a resident of Borja Street, Brgy. Washington, Surigao City and a native of Barangay Poblacion 10, Dapa, Surigao del Norte.
Personnel of Surigao City Police Station in coordination with the City COMELEC Officer Mrs. Gina C. Taer together with Surigao del Norte Provincial Explosive Ordinance Disposal and K9 Unit personnel conducted checkpoint when the said suspect was driving a white Foton Van bearing plate number ABJ 6334 registered under the name of Sabino Oralde Retes of block 168, lot 13, Calchuchi, Makati City.
He was caught carrying an open black plastic pistol case with one (1) magazine loaded with seventeen (17) pieces of live ammunitions, one (1) piece live ammo including the cleaning paraphernalia without any pertinent documents presented upon inspection.
“We will continue to enforce the law and exert more efforts to seized illegally possessed firearms that could be utilized in unlawful actions”. PD said.
