A total of 50 repurposed classroom chairs from McDonald’s Philippines were turned over to East City Central School in Barangay Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City, on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara and McDonald’s Philippines Managing Director Margot Torres led the turnover, which coincided with the kick-off ceremony of National Teachers’ Month at Limketkai Atrium. The event also aimed to recognize the important role of teachers in the country’s education.

According to Sec. Angara, the chairs will not only help students but will also teach children the importance of recycling and repurposing, showing that things commonly thrown away can be transformed into something useful.

This is part of the arrival of the ReClassified program in Cagayan de Oro for the first time.
