Through the persistent campaign on anti-terrorism, Surigao del Norte Provincial Intelligence Unit (Lead Unit) together with 1st SDN Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Provincial EOD and Canine Unit (PECU) successfully recovered seven (7) units of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Brgy. Quezon, Surigao City, December 15, 2021.
Provincial Director (PD) Police Colonel Noel C Espinoza disclosed that the seven (7) units of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which included four (4) RPG (sidik) HEAP; one (1) RPG (MEUG) HEAP; two Improvised Explosive Device (pipebomb) were found at the mountainous part, which is densely covered with coconuts and other endemic trees.
The war materials were wrapped in cellophane then inserted in a sack before it was hidden in a cave.
The recovery is the result of a follow-up operation conducted by the operating troops after the recovery of 1,026 rounds of 5.56MM live ammunition at the mountainous part of Brgy. Quezon, Surigao City. (Approximately about two (2) kilometers away from the area where the explosives were recovered).
“This is an indication that the government’s effort to End the Local Armed Conflict consistently pursues lasting peace and development,” PD said.
