Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City – Through the PNP Caraga intensified campaign against insurgency, the police force of Caraga successfully recovered of 1,026 rounds of 5.56MM ammunition, and 20 subversive documents of Communist Terrorists Group (CTG) at the mountainous part of Brgy. Quezon, Surigao City.
POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL ROMEO M CARAMAT JR, PRO13 Director divulged that the joint personnel of Surigao del Norte Provincial Intelligence Unit, together with 1st Surigao del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Provincial EOD and Canine Unit (PECU) discovered the armaments and documents inside a plastic water container and buried in a shallow pit, while the subversive documents were placed in plastic cellophane.
The successful retrieval of the illegal items stemmed from an information report from a concerned citizens on December 9 and 10, 2021 and December 13, 2021 provided from a confidential informant where the ammunition and explosives were hidden.
In addition, the information reports were corroborated by the revelation of Gelan Galgo Ybañez alias Weng the Commanding Officer of Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda 16B, Guerilla Front 16, SRC Northland of the North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee who was previously arrested last November 14, 2021 at Brgy. Veedcor, Bayugan City.
Alias Weng revealed that sometime in the year of 2019, the illegal items were hidden at the hinterland of the above said barangay.
“I commend our operating personnel for this remarkable accomplishment. The criminal plans of these rebels will never be successful with the efforts of our operatives to provide all the needed police operations to suppress their illegal activities in order to bring peace and order in our region,” RD CARAMAT JR said.
