Cadaver of Communist NPA Terrorist (CNT) was exhumed during the conduct of joint retrieval operation of the 75IB (Marauder) and 36IB (Valor) troopers, together with the barangay Siagao LGU and San Miguel Municipal Police Station (MPS) at Sitio Kiskis, Brgy Siagao, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur on July 23, 2020 after government troops received a tip from a Former Rebel.
The cadaver of Dondon Montenegro Suazo @Hill, 19 years old, Team Leader of Platoon 1, Squad Dos, Guerrilla Front 30, North Eastern Mindanao Regional Command (NEMRC), already on its advance state of decomposition, was exhumed in a remote part of sitio Kiskis, barangay Siagao. Dondon was with Joel Maca Mahinay @Niko/Ontong/Barok, CO, Platoon 2, GF 30, NEMRC when they clashed against military forces at said area on May 18, 2020. He was hastily buried by the CNTs at a shallow grave to be forever forgotten.
The successful recovery of cadaver was through the revelation of @Migs, a Former Rebel, who was also a member of the platoon of Joel Maca Mahinay @Niko/Ontong/Barok and was there during the encounter. The FR further disclosed that Dondon is a Mamanwa and a resident of Sitio Libas, Brgy Sibahay, Lanuza, Surigao del Sur. The FR also disclosed that Dondon was with Joel Maca Mahinay @Niko/Ontong/Barok and his platoon when the CNTs committed their murder of Datu Bernandino “Bandi” Astudillo,72 years old and Zaldy Ybanez, 52 years old at sitio Inadan, barangay Magroyong on 19 March 2020. Both victims suffered 16 stab wounds.
The exhumed remains of Dondon was painstakingly carried by government troops to San Miguel MPS from proper documentation, and was thereafter brought to a funeral parlor in Tandag City where he was received and reconciled with his grieving mother, Mrs Bernardita Montenegro Suazo, a widow. “Mag isa naman to ka tuig na nananghid ang akong anak nga manarbaho para makatabang sa amo ug labaw na sa iyang igsuon nga naay sakit nga cancer pero karon akong nabalitaan nga nadani ug giilad sa mga Terroristang NPA unya namatay ug gibyaan lang sa bukid.” Bernadita stated.
LTC. JEFFREY A VILLAROSA, Commanding Officer of 75IB expressed his deepest sympathy to Mrs. Bernardita Montenegro Suazo and her family. “Another innocent life is lost because he fell victim to the deception of the CNTs. What is more difficult to comprehend is the CNTs wanting to keep the sad truth of Dondon’s death from his family. If not for the revelation of @Migs, Dondon’s remains will not be discovered and exhumed, and his mother will forever wander of what happened to him. I encourage the remaining NPA members to surrender while you still have a chance. I also call on their families to rescue your love ones from the NPAs. The NPAs will only let go of your love ones only once they are dead. Their NPA leaders will continue to use and exploit them while they still can. Do not wait for your love ones to suffer the same fate as Dondon. Surrender now and give yourselves and your families a chance to live normal lives. Follow what @Migs did. Because of his voluntary surrender, @Migs will receive the full benefits of our government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Integration Program (E-CLIP)”, Villarosa ended.
