TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña in a statement said that “I have directed our Regional and Provincial Offices to expedite the provision of training on construction-related courses such as Carpentry and Electrical Installation so the displaced residents can immediately rebuild their homes.”

As part of the Secretary’s directive to bring the “TESDAmayan” to another level and to ensure a well-coordinated, faster, and more efficient delivery of assistance programs to the victims of Odette, the TESDA Central Office assigned various regions through a “Buddy System” to help areas devastated by Typhoon Odette.

TESDA CAR together with TESDA Region 1 was assigned to provide skills training, particularly on construction-related courses to help in rebuilding the houses of the victims of Typhoon Odette in Bohol.

In CAR, the trainers are from the Provincial Training Centers (PTCs) of TESDA Kalinga, TESDA Mt. Province, TESDA Abra, TESDA Apayao, and TESDA Ifugao.

The 19 trainers are composed of 4 trainers of Electrical Installation and Maintenance, 9 trainers of Carpentry, and 6 trainers of Masonry.

TESDA CAR Regional Director Jeffrey Ian C. Dy said that the trainers will stay in Bohol for about three weeks to assist the residents in the repair of their houses.

Secretary Lapeña said during yesterday’s flag ceremony that 92 personnel from Luzon will be transported by the Armed Forces of the Philippines through the Philippine Air Force aircraft to the typhoon-hit areas bringing with them their tools and other necessary training materials to respond to the residents quickly.

“TESDAmayan” is the agency’s banner program created under the leadership of Secretary Lapeña that aims to aid communities affected by any crisis brought about by natural calamities, disasters, or any other untoward incidents which cause displacement among the residents.
