Baguio temperature drops to 9.8 degrees Celsius

BAGUIO CITY– Baguio residents and visitors woke up to a freezing morning when the city posted a new record low temperature of 9.4 degrees Celsius (°C) as of 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021.

The provincial office of weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the public to expect colder temperatures in the city to stay low until February to the first week of March.

Normally, low temperature occurs in Baguio City beginning November to March.

Health officials advise the public to keep warm by wearing thick clothes and to ensure their immune systems are boosted to fight off colds, flu and Coronavirus disease. They also reiterated to always follow proper health protocols, especially when in public palces.

Meanwhile, based on its automated weather station of (PAGASA) recorded a low temperature at 8 degrees celsius over Paoay, Atok, Benguet at 5:30 AM of January 31, 2021.

Because of the freezing temperature, thick frost covered some of the leafy vegetable crops of the farmers in the area. By Joe M.
