₱ 90 million worth of fully grown marijuana plants were destroyed during an anti-illegal drugs operation in the mountainous areas in Kalinga in a two-day operation on January 18 – 19, 2022,
Philippine National Police (PNP) Cordillera said, joint operatives of Kalinga Police Provincial Office, PNP Drug Enforcement Group (DEG), and PDEA-CAR conducted a marijuana eradication operation in six plantation sites in the two barangays of Tinglayan.
Operatives uprooted 280,000 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants (FGMJP) worth ₱ 56 million In Barangay Loccong.
In Barangay Butbut Proper, the operatives eradicated a total of 80,000 pieces of FGMJP worth ₱ 16 million.
Aside from the uprooted marijuana the operating units also recovered 150 kilos of dried marijuana leaves worth ₱ 18 million..
The people behind the plantation sites are yet to be identified.
The discovered marijuana plants and dried marijuana stalks & leaves were burned on-site.
