Baguio increases tourist arrivals to 5,000

The city recently increased the number of tourists that will be allowed to enter the Summer Capital to 5,000 daily from the previous 2,000 as part of the ongoing efforts of the local government to gradually and safely revive the tourism industry that was heavily impacted by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

City Tourism operations officer Engr. Aloysius Mapalo disclosed in his social media account that the city is back in business with many fully booked hotels and shops and restaurants having their regular number of customers.

But still travelers for leisure must first register in the city’s tourist registration platform, visita.baguio.gov.ph.

The city is also accepting visitors who possess the blue QR-coded tourist pass (QTPs) which are issued by some local hotels.

But still only fully vaccinated adults are allowed, minors may present a negative test result if not vaccinated and 11 years old and below are exempted.

The highest VISITA leisure travel arrival recorded by the city was last Saturday, Dec 11, with 5643. But that does not include those coming in as essential/official/business travels, which may be up to 500 in a day.
