Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia disclosed the news-breaking development as he expressed gratitude to Bacolodnons for heeding the city government’s call for continued compliance to minimum health protocols despite the decline of cases in past several weeks.

Records indicate that the first time Bacolod registered zero COVID case was on March 10, 2021.

On February 2, 2022 Bacolod City also logged zero case for the day, Dr. Chris Sorongon, EOC-TF deputy for medical data analysis said.

The last seven days saw the drop of COVID cases to 14 and further slipping to 12, then to only 11 daily infections from Thursday until Saturday.

“Six cases were reported by the EOC-TF on Sunday and zero tonight,” Leonardia, quoting task force’s Sorongon and secretariat head Theresa Quebrar-Manalili, said.

This is testimonial to the Bacolodnons’ full cooperation as we continue the fight against the pandemic. Credit also goes to our EOC Task Force, headed by former councilor Em Ang, and health frontliners, Leonardia said.

The mayor reiterated anew that “we must learn how to live with the virus and adjust to it accordingly and cautiously.”

Sorongon cited six factors for Bacolod’s successful management of COVID-19.

These are systems and processes that are in place as provided for in Executive Order 59 and EO 83, the high population protection with 121 percent of the target already fully vaccinated, intensified PDITR + V strategies, leadership of Mayor Leonardia and Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, the commitment and passion of the men and women of the EOC, CoVac, CHO, CDRRMO and other frontliners and the coordinated efforts of barangay captains and BHERTS, among others.
