Davao del Norte: Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) Infection Control Unit Medical Officer IV, Dr. Jasmin De La Cruz, revealed that adults are the main source of COVID19 infection among children patients.
During Kapihan sa DavNor, De La Cruz said that since adults are the ones who are allowed to go out during the pandemic, they are the ones who are most likely to bring the virus home.
“Wala kabalo ang adult nga naa na diay siyay exposure sa kauban sa trabaho, or nag travel siya wala siya nag mask. Mao jud ni siya ang risgo sa mga bata,” she said.
She added that it doesn’t help when adults are ignoring their symptoms or when they are afraid to report to the health authorities for possible COVID19 infection.
“Ang problema lang ang uban mahadlok man gud pud. Ang uban wala lang pud sa ila. Diha na sila ma worry kung ang bata na ang nagdaot,” she said.
With this, De La Cruz advised that first and foremost, adults should try their best to avoid being infected; they should always follow the health protocols: wearing of mask, washing of hands, and maintaining of 2-meter physical distance.
“Maka infect ra man ka sa imong mga anak kung ikaw mismo na infect sa COVID,” she explained.
As well, when coming home, adults should immediately wash their exposed parts of their body to wash out the possible COVID19 virus that may have stuck on them.
Aside from that, she also highly encouraged for adults to get vaccinated.
“As we all know there is a vaccine now that’s being rolled out, so far, these vaccines are intended for the adults since there’s no vaccine approved for children’s use yet,” De La Cruz claimed.
She supported that the current studies have only been done on the adults for now, that there have yet to be studies done on children when it comes to COVID19 vaccination.
