DOH XI guarantees storage facilities for incoming COVID-19 vaccines

Davao City:  The Department of Health Davao Center for Health and Development (DOH DCHD) has announced in a recent virtual press conference that there are currently local government units and partners from the private sector who are offering cold storage facilities for storing COVID-19 vaccines.

The Vaccination Team Leader for the COVID-19 Vaccination Program for the Davao Region Dr. Janis Olavides guaranteed that local health authorities are preparing the necessary logistical preparations for the distribution of the said vaccines.

“Our [Davao Region] capacity po sa most of our LGUs are the two to eight degrees centigrade [cold storage facilities] … naa pud ta ubang na mga partners nga naa’y cold room storage nga -25 degree centigrade (Our capacity as of now is that most of our LGUs have cold storage facilities capable of temperatures of negative two to eight degrees centigrade … we also have other partners who have cold room storage capable of reaching -25 degrees centigrade),” Olavides said.

Olavides remarked on this development and how local health authorities are sustaining efforts in the possible expansion of storage facilities to accommodate a wider range of vaccines with specific storage requirements.

“We are looking for ways also kung pwede pa ba ta nga naa’y (if we can have the) capacity to accommodate low-freezing temperatures to accommodate other vaccines as well,” Olavides said.

As of writing, Dr. Olavides reported that there are currently 800,000 individuals who are listed under Priority Group A who will be given top priority to undergo vaccination….. PIA XI/KPC, OIC Michael Manguhig RPN Dxkt Davao
