A total of 44 city government personnel from various departments holding offices at the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) building have tested positive for the Sars-CoV-2 as the City Health Office (CHO) completes the three-day surveillance swabbing from May 29 to 31.
The 44 were among the 1,083 employees swabbed for Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes the coronavirus disease, as part of the active surveillance swabbing of the city government.
“We have completed the swabbing at the Sangguniang Panlungsod. During the Friday, Saturday, Sunday swabbing, we were able to swab a total of 1,083 employees and out of those 1,083, 44 came out positive,” Dr. Ashley Lopez, Acting Head of the City Health Office (CHO) said during the Covid-19 Alert Program of the Davao City Disaster Radio.
Lopez said that most of the Covid-19 positive employees came from the offices located on the ground floor of the SP Building, particularly the City Assessor’s Office, City Treasurer’s Office, and the City Civil Registrar’s Office.
“Kadaghanang kaso naa sa City Assessor’s gikan (Most of the cases came from the City Assessor’s). We also have four (4) cases from the City Treasurer’s Office,” he said,
Lopez said that the 44 employees have been isolated and that his office will conduct disinfection inside the SP Building offices.
On Monday, May 31, the SP Building had been placed on a seven-day lockdown due to the alarming rise of Covid-19 cases among city government employees.
While the SP Building is in lockdown, all services of the offices at SP are being done at their district offices.
