13 Former NPAs Received ₱3M For Surrendered Firearms

Thirteen (13) Former New People’s Army members received a total of P 3,072,000.00 as firearms renumeration thru the government’s Extended-Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) during the awarding ceremony held at the Provincial Governor’s Conference Room, Capitol Rd, Surigao City on Thursday, June 11, 2020.

The surrendered firearms included one (1) Home Made Shotgun, three (3) M203 Grenade Launcher , six (6) AK47, three (3) M16, two (2) M4, two (2) R18, one (1) Garand and two (2) M14 rifles with a total renumeration of P 3,072,000.

It can be recalled that last November 28, 2019, said Former Rebels (FRs) also received cash assistance totaling to P262,000.00 during the launching of Surigao Del Norte Task Force to End the Local Communist Armed Conflict (SDN-TF-ELCAC) at LASICAM Complex.

Moreover, each recipients also received Hygiene Kits and Relief goods from DSWD-13, Hygiene Kits from RDOH CARAGA. A total of P 50,000.00 was also give to each former rebels as Livelihood Assistance and P 15,000.00 for Immediate Assistance. Mr Braulio Dela Peňa, TESDA Provincial Director said that TESDA SDN will give scholarship for the 13 FRs.

In her statement, Alias Wella, one of the recipients, said “Sa ngalan sa uban nako nga mga kauban nga nag surrender labi na ako Nagpa salamat kami sa gobyerno ug sa tanan agency nga naningkamot aron muabot na ang adlaw nga kahigayon nga ghatag sa gobyerno nga malamdagan Ang among kaugmaon, labi na sa 30IB philipine Army nga Wala mi pasagdi gikan sa pag surrender namo, hamulag kaayo Ang propaganda sa mga NPA na physical mental turturon kun ikaw mo murrender, tungod sa programa nga EClip ni Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte g tratar kmi ug maayo bisan tuod ug gikan kme sa mangitngit nga dalan sa kamot sa mga NPA ,daghang salamat dli kini nmoh klimtan ug labi na dili kini namo sayangon Ang ghatag nga panginabuhian sa gobyerno nga maoy sinugdanan aron ma bag,o Ang among panginabuhi”.

Lt Col Ryan Charles G Callanta, the Commanding Officer of 30IB said “Our 13 surrenderees who decided to embrace a peaceful life will be reintegrated to the mainstream society. Such realization clearly manifested the government’s true and genuine aspirations for peace and reconciliation. The 30IB along with the government agencies and private sectors will remain to be steadfast not only as partners for peace and security but also for progress and development. To our kabayans and mga kapatid na namumundok pa, muli namin kayong hikayatin, sama sama tayong mabuhay na matahimik at matiwasay. Together we can put an end to this bloody but senseless armed conflict that is causing innocent lives and embrace our most aspired genuine peace and reconciliation”.

The awarding ceremony was also graced by the Provincial Governor, Atty. Francisco ‘Lalo’ Matugas via Teleconference, Regional Director of DILG Ms Lilibeth A Famacion via teleconference, Provincial DILG headed by Mr John Rey Mosquito, Provincial Administrator Mr Ramon Gotinga, Police Provincial Director Col Adolf C Almendra, PSWDO head Ms Fe Saumat,TESDA headed by Mr Braulio Dela Peňa, DOH, DSWD and media partners in SDN.
