DOH Caraga Records Eight New COVID-19 Cases
12 June 2020

As of June 12, 2020, DOH Caraga records eight (8) new RT-PCR confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region. These new cases are Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs) and Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) who arrived in the region from June 4-8, 2020.

As of this time, Caraga region has a total of twenty-two (22) COVID-19 confirmed cases. The cases are as follows:
Case No. 15 – 53-year-old Male; ROF; from Agusan del Norte; arrived in the Philippines on March 15, 2020, travelled to CDO on June 4, 2020 via PAL flight PR4525 and arrived in Caraga on the same day from CDO via bus; Asymptomatic; on Strict Quarantine Facility

Case No. 16 – 25-year-old Male; ROF; from Agusan del Norte; arrived in the Philippines on March 18, 2020, travelled to CDO on June 6, 2020 via PAL flight PR4527 and arrived in Caraga on the same day from CDO via bus; Asymptomatic ; on Strict Quarantine Facility

Case No. 17 – 26-year-old Male; LSI; from Butuan City; arrived in Caraga on June 6, 2020 from Cebu to Nasipit via 2GO vessel; with Mild Symptoms and on Strict Quarantine Facility

Case No. 18 – 23-year-old Female; LSI; from Butuan City; arrived in Caraga on June 7, 2020 from Cebu to Nasipit via Cokaliong Vessel; with Mild Symptoms and on Strict Quarantine Facility

Case No. 19 – 47 years old Male; LSI; from Butuan City; arrived in Caraga from Cebu to Nasipit via Cokaliong Vessel on June 7, 2020; Asymptomatic; on Strict Quarantine Facility

Case No. 20 – 22-year-old Male; LSI; from Butuan City; arrived in Caraga from Cebu to Nasipit via 2GO vessel on June 6, 2020; with Mild Symptoms and on Strict Quarantine Facility

Case No. 21 – 56-year-old Male; ROF; from Butuan City; arrived in the Philippines on May 30, 2020, travelled to CDO on June 8, 2020 via Air Asia flight Z28616 and arrived in Caraga on the same day via bus; Asymptomatic; on Strict Quarantine Facility

Case No. 22 – 35-year-old Male; ROF; from Surigao City; arrived in the Philippines on March 26, 2020, travelled to Cebu from Manila via 2Go vessel on April 28, 2020; and arrived in Caraga from Cebu to Surigao City on June 7, 2020 via Cokaliong vessel; Asymptomatic; on Strict Quarantine Facility

The eight (8) new cases are part of the sixty-two (62) specimens forwarded to Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) sub-national laboratory for confirmatory testing. Together with these specimens are the second follow-up test of case no. 7 and the first follow-up tests of case no. 10 and 11 which still tested positive for COVID-19.

“Always adhere to the health standards advised by the Department of Health and your Local Government Units. Containment measures are continuously being done thus let us coordinate with one another. If going outside is unnecessary, then, better stay at home,” Regional Director Jose R. Llacuna, Jr. said.

Fifty-One Additional Negative Results for COVID-19 in Caraga

Sixty-two specimens were forwarded to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) sub-national laboratory for COVID-19 RT-PCR testing. Upon release of results, fifty-one (51) specimens turned negative for the virus.

The negative results come from:

  1. a) Seven (7) suspect cases from Nasipit District Hospital, Agusan del Norte Provincial Hospital, Caraga Regional Hospital, Butuan Doctors’ Hospital and M.J. Santos Hospital,
  2. b) Five (5) probable cases from Agusan del Sur and Adela Serra Ty Memorial Medical Center, and c) High-risk individuals and health workers from the different Local Government Units (LGUs), health offices and hospitals in the region with relevant history of travel and exposure.

“Only when we work together shall we conquer this continuing battle on COVID-19. To protect yourself from the virus or any other disease, consistently follow the health tips like regular hand washing, wearing of face masks and physical distancing,” Regional Director Jose R. Llacuna, Jr. said.

Meanwhile, the third follow-up test of case no. 6 remains negative as well as the second follow-up test of case no. 8 and first follow-up test of case no. 9.
“Also, never forget to get enough hours of sleep, avoid sedentary lifestyle and consume nutritious food while staying at home. The body’s defence from diseases is a combination of factors on proper diet, adequate rest and sleep and exercise,” the health chief concluded. (DOH CHD Caraga I DXKS RPN Radio)
