Cotabato City – Health authorities in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) have released by batches the delayed salaries of 1,797 health workers in the region starting with those from Maguindanao province late last week.

In an interview on Tuesday, Dr. Amirel Usman, acting MOH-BARMM minister, said that 533 health personnel from Maguindanao have started receiving their pay for June this year amounting to some ₱ 22.6-million.

“We are almost complete for the salary distribution of health workers in Maguindanao since Oct. 2, and anytime this week we will also be starting with the other BARMM province-components,” he said.

The other BARMM provinces are Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

Usman said the health workers are also set to receive “anytime soon” their salaries for July and August this year.

Under the MOH-BARMM payroll are doctors, nurses, midwives, dentists, and other health professionals in support of the attainment of Universal Health Care and the continuing fight against Covid-19.

He noted that that nurses in the region alone are receiving some ₱ 32,000 monthly.

“We are doing everything we can to release all the delayed salaries of our health workers,” he said. For June, the BARMM has set aside some PHP80 million for the salaries of its health workers.
