Illegal drugs with a total volume of 417,330.58 grams and worth P60, 086,809.05 were destroyed through the thermal facility of Holcim, Inc. in Bacnotan, La Union on December 4, 2020.
The breakdown of the drug evidence are: 1,498.0747 grams of Methamphetamine; 37.4 mL of Liquid Methamphetamine; 415,832.5102 grams of Marijuana; and, 52 pieces Marijuana plants, all were fed in the thermal facility as the proper way of destroy it.
The destruction of said illegal drugs is in compliance with the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte to immediately destroy seized contraband to avoid recycling by unscrupulous individuals and also in compliance with the guidelines set on the custody and disposition of seized dangerous drugs required in Section 21, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 1, Series of 2002.
The confiscated illegal drug evidence is the result of various anti-illegal drug operations of PROCOR, PDEA Cordillera and other law enforcement units.
All drug evidence was from 244 cases from various court branches in Cordillera.
PDEA-CAR strengthened their ties with Holcim, Inc Bacnotan through a MOA.
Holcim, Inc Bacnotan will allow the usage of its thermal for the destruction of drug evidence already decided by courts. (PDEA Cordillera | PROCOR Public Information Office)
