The Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) of Zamboanga City Reformatory Center (ZCRC) despite the pandemic Coronavirus Disease 2019 is celebrating National Correctional Consciousness Week (NACOCOW) from October 25 to October 31 to give importance to the PDL’s.
NACOCOW, is a yearly activity in lieu of Proclamation Number 551 by former President Fidel Ramos who declared every last week of October as National Correctional Consciousness Week.
The theme for this year’s NACOCOW celebration is “Seguridad ay Paigtingin, Manatiling Ligtas sa Covid 19”
SJO1 Rey Laurence Comprendio, ZCJ Information Officer, told RPN DXXX Zamboanga during the activity, there will be health teaching, mental health awareness and counselling seminar to PDL’s, and smoking cessation activity.
Other activities includes: mass, Zumba, feeding activity for PDL’s who are senior citizen, talentadong pinoy, and paralegal consultation.
The celebration aims to support the causes of PDL’s, will raise the consciousness of the public on the plight of the PDL’s, and to promote unity between the BJMP personnel and PDL’s.
Comprendio assured that strict health protocols were followed to make sure the virus will not spread.
