Mayor Beng Climaco spearheaded Monday the distribution of cash assistance to some 315 public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic at ₱ 1,500 each, representing the Local Special Amelioration Program (LSAP) of the city government in collaboration with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)-9.

Under strict compliance with the minimum public health standards, the distribution was held at the Integrated Bus Terminal in Divisoria through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and LTFRB-9 personnel.
Barring all hitches, especially in compliance with health protocols, the distribution of said cash assistance to other drivers on the list will continue Tuesday, Nov. 9, until Nov. 12.

A total of 2,838 PUJ drivers have been listed for the LSAP, the distribution of which must be personal to the drivers as no proxy is allowed. It can be claimed at the CSWD office in case the driver fails to attend the actual distribution at IBT.

A month or two ago, the mayor also graced the distribution of similar cash assistance to other sectors, whose livelihoods or means of family income were affected by the pandemic-driven lockdowns.
