Stabbing incident transpired at Purok 7, Brgy. Poblacion, Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur at 4:00 AM of December 19, 2020.
Investigation conducted disclosed that the victim identified as Elma Monterola Remitar, 51 years old, female, married, and a resident of abovementioned was stabbed to death by her husband identified as Eduardo Perez Remitar, 51 years old, married, casual Employee of LGU Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur and a resident of same place.
Further investigation conducted disclosed that prior to the incident; the victim was discovered by her daughter Mary Eldyn Monterola Remitar lying lifeless inside her bedroom in supine position.
Immediately thereafter, Mary Eldyn Monterola Remitar, shouted for help and noticed her father walking inside the house and approached her asking for forgiveness to quote in vernacular words “Day Pasayloa ko sa nahitabo, Napatay nako imohang mama kay naa siya’y laing laki”.
The victim sustained stabbed wound on her chest and brought to Mahayag Community Hospital, Poblacion, Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur for medical treatment, but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The suspect immediately fled the scene after the incident. Motive of the incident believed to be love triangle/jealousy.
PNP personnel of Mahayag Municipal Police Station are still conducting hot pursuit operation to possibly locate and arrest of the fleeing suspect. (PCpt. Edwin A. Duco, Chief Public Information Officer)
