Shooting incident transpired at Sitio Balot Dako, Brgy. Benuatan, Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur at 5:50 PM of December 18, 2020.
Investigation conducted disclosed that victim identified as Welmar Paciol Decena, 30 years old, male, married, fishpond caretaker, and a resident of Purok Pasayan, Brgy. Benuatan, Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur onboard on his motorized pump boat traversing at the sea water of Balot Dako, Brgy. Benuatan, Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur when allegedly waylaid and shot using undetermined caliber of firearm by unidentified suspect.
As a result, the victim sustained gunshot wounds on his head and left elbow that resulted to his instantaneous death, while the suspect immediately fled the scene after the incident.
PNP personnel of Dinas Municipal Police Station conducted thorough investigation and follow up operation to possibly identify, locate and arrest the fleeing suspect as well to determine the motive of the incident. (PCpt. Edwin A. Duco, Chief Public Information Officer)
