PCG In Surigao Del Norte Gears Up For Typhoon Bising

Coast Guard Station Surigao del Norte headed by the Station Commander CDR ELAINE R PANGILINAN PCG is now on standby for any deployment due to possible effects of TYPHOON “BISING” with International Name (SURIGAE) which presently hoisted Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal #1 in its Area of Responsibility (AOR) yesterday, 17 April 2021.

All Sub-Station units in the Province of Surigao del Norte were immediately placed under Full Alert Status and activated the Deployable Response Groups (DRGs) in preparation for the incoming Typhoon BISING.

Upon hoisting Signal #1, Coast Guard Station Surigao del Norte immediately issued a Notice to Mariners for all vessels/watercrafts plying in the AOR of the Station to temporarily suspend the respective voyages in relation to the published Severe Weather Bulletin Number 1 issued by Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) which is in accordance to the HPCG Memorandum Circular 02-13 entitled Guidelines of the Movement of Vessels during Heavy Weather dated 05 June 2013.

Moreover, an information dissemination of the NO SAIL POLICY was conducted by providing a copy to the respective shipowners of vessels, concerned agencies, local government units (LGU) and other maritime stakeholders in the AOR.

Meanwhile, PCG personnel in the Province also conducted simultaneous foot and seaborne patrol operations to the coastal barangays in order to ensure the compliance of the public to the NO SAIL POLICY for the safety of life and property at sea.

Further, Coast Guard Station Surigao del Norte already made coordination to City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) for any deployment in response to the effects of Typhoon BISING such as landslides, flashfloods and other unusual incidents.

At present, Coast Guard Station Surigao del Norte constantly monitors the movement of the Typhoon BISING as well as the improvement of prevailing inclement weather and sea condition in the AOR.
