DILG Region 5 is honored to be invited as a resource person at the Kapihan sa PIA yesterday, May 2, 2024 at PSA Regional Office 5, Rawis, Legazpi City.
The discussion focused on the department’s initiatives and the local government units’ actions to mitigate the localized impacts of El Niño phenomenon in Bicol Region. LGOO VII Ma. Ruthel P. Gigantoca, Chief of the Local Government Capability Development Division, shared insights on the updated policies issued by the Department, the region-wide information campaign, and the close monitoring of El Niño’s effects on communities, including potential state of calamity declarations.
By raising awareness and working together, we believe the government and Bicolanos can effectively mitigate El Niño’s impact.
Representatives from DOST-PAGASA, Department of Agriculture and National Irrigation Administration also joined the activity.
