Over 2,000 personnel of the Overseas Works Welfare Administration (OWWA) are set to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

This after the National Task Force Against Covid-19 (NTF) approved the appeal of OWWA to have its 2,050 workers be included in the priority beneficiaries in the government’s ongoing vaccination drive.

Among the OWWA frontliners, who are expected to be inoculated are its personnel in charge of airport arrivals; bus drivers; dispatchers; hotel quarantine house parents and nurses and midwives.

OWWA Administrator Hans Cacdac lauded the latest development, which will help minimize the risk of OWWA workers from Covid-19 infections.

He said they expect their personnel will be among those to be vaccinated under the A4 category, which includes economic frontliners, during the Labor Day celebration on Saturday.

“We’re all excited to be vaccinated by May,” Cacdac said in a post in his Twitter account.

The government has already started vaccinating health care workers and other personnel in medical facilities (A1); senior citizens (A2); and those with co-morbidities (A3) since last month.

Aside from public servants, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) earlier said the government is also targeting to start workers in the private sector during the weekend.
