Over 5,000 Covid vaccine doses will be allocated for the symbolic inoculation of economic frontliners during the upcoming Labor Day celebration.

On Tuesday, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) approved the request of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), for the vaccines to be used for minimum wage earners and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

“The DOLE has been directed to create a masterlist to ensure the equitable representation of the labor sector during the said ceremony,” Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) earlier announced several workers will be vaccinated on May 1, 2021 to mark the start of the inclusion of economic frontliners (A3) in the ongoing vaccination drive of the government.

It said it was in talks with the local government unit of Manila, where the symbolic vaccination is expected to be held.

Currently, the government has deployed Covid-19 vaccine for health care workers (A1), senior citizens (A2); and those with co-morbidities (A3).
