Legazpi City – The vaccination rate for the eligible teaching and non-teaching personnel of Department of Education (DepEd) Bicol has already reached 93%.
Based on the latest vaccination report from the field, 69,706 or 93% of the 73,304 eligible DepEd employees have already received their Covid19 jabs from their respective Local Government Units (LGUs).
From the said number of vaccinated employees, 66,296 DepEd Bicol personnel are already fully vaccinated while there are 3,410 eligible population who received their first dose of the covid19 vaccine. The report also indicated that there are 3,874 eligible DepEd employees who are registered and awaiting their schedule for vaccination.
Eligible individuals are those listed as priority for the vaccination roll-out by the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG) and by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF). Teachers including non-teaching personnel belongs to the B1 priority group set by the IATF.
DepEd Bicol Director Gilbert Sadsad expressed his satisfaction with the latest vaccination numbers. However, while DepEd Bicol welcomes the said progress in the vaccination status of its employees, Director Sadsad still emphasized the need to push harder to achieve 100% vaccination coverage to ensure the safe re-opening of schools under the expanded phase of the limited face-to-face classes the region.
“The interim guidelines for the conduct of the limited face-to-face expressly provides that only vaccinated teachers may participate in the expanded phase. We need to comply with the said guidelines. To ensure the protection of our learners and teachers, we still need to push for the 100% vaccination coverage of all eligible DepEd employees. “
Meanwhile, Director Sadsad reiterate his support to the roll-out of the pediatric vaccination for children aged 5-11 years old. Director Sadsad emphasized that the vaccination drive for children is vital to the gradual reintroduction of face-to-face classes and the general welfare of Bicolano learners.
