Retired Colonel Romeo Baleros, former Director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO), warned the public against individuals who are using his name on social media to solicit money.

Baleros said Thursday that his Facebook account with name Romeo A. Baleros was hacked.

Baleros said he was worried that some individuals may use his account to ask money from his friends or government officials on Facebook.

An unidentified person sent a message to a Facebook friend yesterday morning asking for a favor to transfer money via GCash.

The unidentified person claimed that he needed the money for someone, but he could not have it via bank transfer while he is in quarantine in Pasay.

Baleros said he is not asking money from anyone and that somebody was just using his name for such scam.

He advised the public to report to the authorities if they encountered such message.

Baleros headed the Negros Occidental police in 2019.
