DAVAO CITY- Sto. Tomas Municipal Mayor Ernesto Evangelista has ordered the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) to fully utilize the reprogrammed disaster funds amounting to P11, 182, 165.38 for flood control and disaster preparedness projects.
Evangelista’s order comes after he learned that the disaster body did not fully utilize the funds it had with some programs, projects and activities unimplemented such as the implementation of the master drainage plan seen to mitigate the flooding in the town.
“I want our local MDRRMO to use the funds fully for them to become more functional,” Evangelista said who presided over the first meeting of the MDRRMC held yesterday at the SB Hall.
Evangelista said he wanted the MDRRMO to have a responsible management system in order to address the needs of his constituents during actual calamities especially during flash floods.
The local chief executive is optimistic that the funds will be used to properly accomplished all the DRRM plans.
“I will personally check the progress with regards to the implementation of their PPAs. They have a proactive disaster risk reduction program but I want a high efficiency rate of performance versus targets,” Evangelista said.
Engr. Rey Sagot, chief of the local MDRRMO, said the reprogrammed budget of P11.8 million aims to fund the programs, projects and activities under the disaster risk reduction program prioritizing mitigation (P8, 165, 444.67), preparedness (1, 269, 463,.25), and recovery and rehabilitation with an earmarked budget of P577, 316.25.
Sagot said his office has a continuing fund of P10, 012, 244.17 and a trust fund amounting to P1, 869, 921.21 respectively.
Of the P11.8 million budget, Sagot said that a big share of it would fund the purchasing of a rescue vehicle for them to timely and effectively respond on emergency situation and the ambitious drainage plan as flood control project.
