CPOC to review “No ID, No Entry” policy in Zamboanga City

The City Peace and Order Council, chaired by Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabel Climaco-Salazar, will assess and review whether or not the implementation of the “No ID, No Entry” policy in Zamboanga City is still necessary, now that Martial Law in Mindanao had already lapsed.

“This is what we have to look forward to in the upcoming CPOC meeting”, Salazar said.

Task Force Zamboanga commander Col. Antonio John Divinagracia, also of the opinion that such policy be dropped on entry checkpoints in the city.

The policy, according to the mayor, the implementation of the “No ID, No Entry” policy helped a lot in terms of keeping Zamboanga safe and secured at the height of the martial rule in Mindanao.

“Due to our fixed checkpoints and random checkpoints, we apprehended illegal items, a big accomplishment of our security sector,” she added.

Recalled, the “No ID, No Entry” policy has been implemented primarily at the city’s entry points it the east and west coast, after Pres. Rodrigo Duterte placed the entire Mindanao under martial law in July 2017, as an offshoot to the Marawi siege.

The Mayor wants it assessed and reviewed following observations that people are asking why the said policy is still enforced after Martial law in Mindanao had lapsed.
