Over 30 out of the city’s 98 barangays are currently affected by the coronavirus disease, the City Health Office reported Friday, July 24.
Considered as COVID hotspots are San Jose Gusu with 34 cases, Sto. Nino with 31 cases, Calarian with 21 cases, Sta Maria with 12 cases, Camino Nuevo and Campo Islam with 11 cases each and Mampang with 9 cases.
Other barangays with COVID-19 cases are: Arena Blanco, Baliwasan, Cabatangan, Canelar, Cawit, Culianan, Divisoria, Kasanyangan, Labuan, Maasin, Mercedes, Pasonanca, Putik, Salaan, San Jose Cawa Cawa, San Roque, Sangali, Sinunuc, Sta. Barbara, Sta. Catalina, Talon Talon, Tetuan, Tugbungan, Tumaga, Zambowood, Zone I, Zone II, and Zone IV.
In a recorded statement released July 23, City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite said COVID cases are seen in returning locally stranded individuals, returning overseas Filipino workers, and local community transmissions.
Workplaces in both private establishments and government offices, including City Hall, have also reported cases.
“COVID-19 infections does not choose whom to infect. All of us are at risk of getting infected,” Miravite said.
The coronavirus diseases has infected individuals of all ages, from all walks of life and profession, she noted.
The City Health Officer reminded residents to always practice the minimum public health measures of mask wearing, regular handwashing, and physical distancing.
Dr. Miravite stressed that containing COVID-19 requires the cooperation of everyone.
“We will have to live with COVID for a while until a vaccine will be available. Let us care for each other, let us protect each other,” Dr. Miravite said.
The latest COVID numbers for the City as of July 23 are 471 cases with 210 recoveries and 15 mortalities.
