Instead of gathering the centenarians at the provincial capitol for the distribution of their ₱ 100,000 cash assistance, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson personally went around the province to bring the aid to the recipients Wednesday.

Lacson, together with Himamaylan Mayor Raymund Tongson, turned over the cash assistance to four centenarian-recipients at the city hall here.

Both Lacson and Tongson then went to the residence of a recipient in the city who was unable to travel.

Lacson told reporters that a total of 30 centenarians received the aid this year.

He said eight of the recipients are in Northern Negros whom he personally visited last week.

Lacson proceeded to Ilog and other localities in Southern Negros to continue distributing the cash assistance.

He said he will complete the distribution next week.

The governor also said that there is no celebration this year for obvious reasons, but he said they decided not to cancel the occasion and instead he will just go around and personally bring the aid to the centenarians.

He said the centenarians need the money for their maintenance medicines, among other needs. (Dolly Yasa via The Daily Guardian (TDG), photo courtesy by TDG)
