Bacolod City – In preparation for the May 12, 2025 national and local elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) conducted a voter education roadshow in Negros Occidental that started yesterday, December 2.

Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria disclosed that the automated counting machines (ACMs) have already been delivered to all the 32 local government units in Negros Occidental.

The roadshow included live demonstrations of the automated counting machine (ACM), allowing voters to familiarize themselves with the new technology.

Each local election office received one unit of ACM for use for the roadshow, he said.

In a social media post, the poll body announced that both newly registered and old voters will have the opportunity to experience online how to use the ACM.

“The goal of the roadshow is to introduce the automated counting machine to Filipino voters, to ensure they understand how to properly use the machine, and to reinforce the importance of exercising their right and responsibility to vote,” the Comelec said.

The roadshow will run until January 30 next year.

There are 2,009,564 registered voters in Negros Occidental, including the highly urbanized Bacolod City, for the midterm elections on May next year, according to the Comelec.

Among the six congressional districts, the 3rd district of Negros Occidental has the most number of registered voters at 318,496, followed by 6th district at 311,782, 5th district – 302,714, 1st district – 258,527, 4th district – 248,782, and 212,939 in the 2nd district.

The Comelec also logged 356,814 registered voters in highly urbanized Bacolod City. (Gilbert Bayoran via The Visayan Daily Star)
